This opportunity motivated her to enter the competition initially.

“Shawn had been invited to participate in previous seasons,” noted Andrew, whose armband was removed in the Nov. 20 finale after he struggled during the interrogation, “but she had other commitments.”

As in, explained the mother to Drew, 6, Jett, 4, and Bear, 23 months, “I was pregnant. Every time.”

However, after welcoming her last little cub in December 2023, producers suggested that she could join season four and bring a teammate along.

“Once we learned that we could do it together, it was like, ‘Oh, baby, let’s go. This would be like a second honeymoon,'” Andrew joked. “A sick and twisted one, you know.”

A vacation that lacked sunbathing sessions but was rich in self-reflection.

“We voluntarily jump out of planes,” Shawn described their shared thrill-seeking nature. While they deeply respect the military, “I think there was also a curiosity in both of us, like, are we capable of that? We’re accustomed to pushing ourselves in athletics. But this felt a bit different.”
