Phil Lesh’s Son Joins Dead and Company: Videos & Set List

Dead and Company recently concluded an exhilarating three-day event that celebrated the legacy of the Grateful Dead. A truly memorable moment occurred when Grahame Lesh, son of the legendary Phil Lesh, graced the stage in San Francisco with his father’s iconic instrument, known as “Big Brown.” This collaboration brought a profound emotional connection to the performance.

The standout performance of the weekend was the heartfelt rendition of “Box of Rain,” a song that had become a rare gem even before Lesh’s passing in October. During the Dead 60 weekend, Grahame Lesh also joined the band for performances of “Playing in the Band” and “Cumberland Blues” at the historic Golden Gate Park’s Polo Field. The festivities kicked off on what would have been the 83rd birthday of the beloved Jerry Garcia, culminating with an encore performance of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” in tribute to him.

The ensemble Dead and Company features original members of the Grateful Dead, including Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, accompanied by talented musicians such as John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane, who took over drumming duties from Bill Kreutzmann in 2023. Below, you can find videos of their performances and the complete set list from their final Dead 60 show.

Attendance soared to an estimated 60,000 fans each day, despite rising ticket prices that sparked numerous complaints among attendees. The Grateful Dead last performed at Polo Field in 1991, during a free concert honoring the legendary promoter Bill Graham. Throughout the weekend, Dead and Company presented distinct set lists each night, featuring guest appearances by notable artists including Trey Anastasio from Phish, Sturgill Simpson, and Billy Strings.

Could This Be the Last Performance from Dead and Company?

In addition to their main performances, Grahame Lesh and Friends took to the stage around the city starting on Thursday, as a variety of Grateful Dead-related concerts, art exhibitions, panel discussions, and celebrations unfolded throughout the vibrant San Francisco area. In honor of Garcia, officials even renamed a street after him, while the annual Jerry Day was celebrated at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, located conveniently near his childhood home.

To conclude the weekend festivities, Dead and Company performed the iconic “Touch of Grey,” a song that remains the only Top 10 single from the Grateful Dead. The concert on Sunday was also broadcast live in select IMAX theaters across the U.S. and Canada. There are speculations among fans about whether this could be their farewell concert. Earlier this year, Dead and Company held a multi-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, but as of now, no other dates for 2025 have been confirmed.
