The lineup of PlayStation Plus games for December 2025 appears to be starting off poorly, with a significant number of excellent games set to leave the service. This isn’t very festive, is it?
It’s a peculiar time for PlayStation Plus in the coming months. As you may have heard, January 2026 will bring a major change to the subscription service with the removal of PlayStation 4 titles from the Essential tier. However, before that, December will deliver another setback.
The December 2025 Lineup for PlayStation Plus Looks Bleak
More Games Are Set to Leave
Games leave PlayStation Plus every month, and December is no exception. A total of nine games are departing from the PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium tiers on December 16.
These games include:
- Battlefield 2042
- Firefighting Simulator: The Squad
- Forspoken
- Grand Theft Auto 3
- Sonic Frontiers
- Star Trek: Bridge Crew
- Surviving Mars
- Arcade Paradise VR
- Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge
You likely won’t be able to play and finish all of these games before December 16, so you may want to choose wisely. Alternatively, you could try to prove me wrong and complete all nine—it’s entirely up to you.
PlayStation Plus Subscribers Are Less Than Thrilled
Especially Those with PSVR 2 Headsets
A notable aspect this month is that many PSVR 2 titles are being removed from the service, which is concerning for gamers who have invested in the struggling virtual reality headset.
“So they are just taking every PSVR 2 game off of Plus?” one Reddit user questioned on the PlayStation Plus subreddit.
“I hope the explanation is that PSVR 2 games will start being added to Extra instead,” another gamer speculated. “It always seemed illogical to restrict them to Premium because if all their Extra subscribers saw they had access to a variety of VR games, they might be encouraged to purchase PSVR 2. I assume the Premium user base is significantly smaller than the Extra base.”
The PlayStation Plus Essential games for December 2025 will be officially announced next week, but hopefully, we will see some solid additions to alleviate the disappointment of losing these nine games.
