PlayStation Plus Gamers Have 72 Hours to Enjoy These 4 Games

PlayStation Plus has introduced some exciting new games this month, but it will unfortunately lose several great titles on January 20. Along with the rotating selection of monthly titles, the semi-permanent Extra and Premium catalog also sees a slower rate of turnover. The games set to depart have all been part of the Extra and Premium catalog for a year or more, making their exit particularly disappointing.

On January 20, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Monopoly Plus, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and SD Gundam Battle Alliance will all leave PlayStation Plus, as originally reported by PSPlusUpdates on Reddit. All four games are currently available with either an Extra or Premium subscription, and Like a Dragon Gaiden, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and SD Gundam Battle Alliance all offer Platinum trophies for completionists.

Each of the games leaving PS Plus offers a radically different experience, and most subscribers could probably enjoy at least one of them. Like a Dragon Gaiden serves as a compelling conclusion to the original Kiryu saga of the Yakuza series, which has built a fantastic reputation as a standard-bearer for crime games.

Monopoly Plus is essentially Monopoly with some adjustments. Unlike Monopoly Go, it provides a proper Monopoly experience without any daily energy limits or gambling elements, allowing fans of the board game to easily enjoy a game or two before it departs from PlayStation Plus.

Sayonara Wild Hearts comes from the talented indie developers at Simogo, who are also known for the masterful Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. This stylish rhythm action experience lasts only a couple of hours, so there’s no good reason not to try it in the coming days.

Speeding through SD Gundam Battle Alliance won’t be quite as straightforward, as this cartoonish mech game is a full-fledged RPG experience. You can play this one multiplayer, which might be more enjoyable while it’s still part of the PlayStation Plus catalog.

Enjoy Them While You Can

Departures are never enjoyable, and seeing great games like Sayonara Wild Hearts leave the service can be particularly disheartening. However, this disappointment is somewhat alleviated by the lineup of January games recently revealed. For instance, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is set to take over from Like a Dragon Gaiden, and Resident Evil Village is joining the Extra catalog ahead of the release of Resident Evil Requiem.

The new titles will arrive on the same day that others depart, so if you don’t find time to game this weekend, you’ll at least have a nice consolation prize from PlayStation Plus next week.
