PlayStation Plus Offers Limited Time Free Store Credit

Key Takeaways:

  • Free Store Credit: Players can earn free store credit by participating in promotions.
  • Resident Evil Village: Downloading and playing this game grants movie credit.
  • Limited Time Offer: The promotion is valid until April 30, so act quickly.
  • Play Duration: A minimum of 30 minutes of gameplay is required to qualify for the credit.

Although it seems as though Sony hands out free store credit in mere dribs and drabs, being able to stack it all up over a period of time can see you be able to purchase some of the newest library additions for next to nothing. After all, with the price of both hardware and software increasing rapidly over recent years, we will all take whatever help we can get, especially with some of the biggest game releases costing a minimum of $60.

However, it seems as though Sony is back with the incentives after PlayStation players discover that they can earn themselves free store credit by purchasing one hit horror title.

This news comes courtesy of one user over on r/PlayStationPlus who shared a notification they received on PlayStation. Courtesy of PlayStation Plus and Sony Pictures Core, users who download and play Resident Evil Village from the PlayStation Game Catalog will be eligible to receive movie credit to redeem on Sony Pictures Core. By playing the Capcom title for a minimum of 30 minutes between April 7 – April 30, you will be rewarded with the free movie credit in your account by May 8.

“Use your credit to catch up on a movie from the Resident Evil CG animation series or choose from recent releases. Your credit will be automatically added in the Sony Pictures Core app by May 8.”

With Resident Evil Village being widely regarded as one of the best Resident Evil entries since its release back in 2021, horror fans will not want to miss out on the opportunity to check it out, whilst also getting their hands on some free movie credit. With our very own Hayes Madsen calling Resident Evil Village “a nightmare reborn” in their review, this is a Resident Evil entry you do not want to miss out on for a second time.

Luckily, this deal runs for the next few weeks, so you have plenty of time to grab Resident Evil Village and play it for at least 30 minutes. However, as a big fan myself, you are definitely going to want to continue after that allotted time has ended. Then, once you are done, you will be able to head to the Sony Pictures Core library and pick a film of your choosing at a substantial discount. What could be better? Additionally, if you have already played Resident Evil Village, simply booting up the game once more and “playing” for 30 minutes will also register.
