“It’s funny because right before Christmas, my sons and I were sifting through the Academy screeners, trying to find something light-hearted, a silly movie to share some laughs over,” Neeson recounted last year. “Unfortunately, we found nothing but serious films, all heavy and international. While they were all brilliant, they were quite intense. When Seth MacFarlane approached me about this project—this was about two years ago—I thought, yes, I could get on board, provided I play it dead serious and refrain from attempting to mimic Mr. Leslie Nielsen. He was a legend. With Akiva Schaffer directing, who comes from the Saturday Night Live background, I’m really looking forward to it.
