Prince Andrew Arrested, King Charles Responds Publicly

King Charles III does not support the actions of his family.

Following the arrest of his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) on February 19—the same day as his 66th birthday—Charles issued a statement condemning his brother.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the statement, obtained by Sky News, read. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” the 77-year-old continued. “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

However, he will not be commenting further on this topic.

“As this process continues,” Charles concluded. “it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

Earlier in the day, Thames Valley Police confirmed it had opened an investigation into an allegation of misconduct in public office, which arose amid Andrew’s alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein. (Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing.)
