In an exciting announcement for fans of the franchise, Hulu’s much-anticipated Prison Break reboot has officially secured its first series regulars. The talented trio of Emily Browning, known for her role in American Gods, Lukas Gage from Road House, and Drake Rodger who starred in Landman, will take on leading roles in the pilot episode of this thrilling new series.

In this reboot, Browning will take on the role of Cassidy Collins, characterized as “an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who accepts a challenging position at one of the deadliest prisons in America.” Meanwhile, Gage will portray Jackson, “a politician from a privileged background striving to make his mark during his inaugural congressional campaign.” Rodger, on the other hand, is set to play Tommy, “an inmate who has been incarcerated for a decade in one of the nation’s most notorious prisons.” Although this reboot introduces fresh narratives and characters, it is essential to note that it will be set within the same universe as the beloved original Prison Break series, maintaining a connection to its rich history.
The creative mind behind the Prison Break reboot is Elgin James, co-creator of Mayans M.C., who is not only writing the series but also stepping in as an executive producer through his production company, Sierra Drive. He will collaborate with original series executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Neal Moritz, and Marty Adelstein, ensuring the new iteration stays true to the essence of the original. Additionally, Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring is also lending his expertise as an executive producer, guaranteeing a blend of fresh ideas while respecting the legacy of the franchise.
For fans eager to see familiar faces from the original Prison Break, it’s been reported that the new series “is not expected to incorporate the characters central to the original series.” Wentworth Miller, who famously portrayed Michael Scofield, has expressed his desire to move on from the franchise, stating that he no longer wishes to play heterosexual roles. Nevertheless, should the reboot progress beyond the pilot phase, there is speculation that at least one original cast member might make a cameo, which fans would undoubtedly appreciate. After all, one must wonder if T-Bag is still behind bars!
The original Prison Break series premiered in 2005 and captivated audiences as it followed Michael Scofield, played by Wentworth Miller, on his daring quest to save his brother Lincoln Burrows, portrayed by Dominic Purcell, from death row while attempting to escape from Fox River State Penitentiary. With its intricate plot twists and intense storytelling, the show quickly became one of the most talked-about series of its time. After concluding its four-season run, it was followed by a TV movie titled The Final Break. The main cast returned for a nine-episode revival of Prison Break in 2017. Although discussions for another season were underway, they ultimately did not materialize.
