The Project Hail Mary novelty popcorn bucket has been revealed for the upcoming sci-fi movie starring Ryan Gosling.
What is the Project Hail Mary popcorn bucket?
Regal Theaters unveiled the Project Hail Mary popcorn bucket, which will be designed as an astronaut helmet. It resembles the helmet worn by Gosling’s Dr. Ryland Grace. Popcorn helmets come with a free large popcorn.
Regal will also offer collectible popcorn and soda cups that feature the Project Hail Mary poster.
In Project Hail Mary, Dr. Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of how he got there. As he pieces together his past, Grace must figure out why a mysterious substance is killing the sun.
“He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction,” the official synopsis reads. “But an unexpected friendship means he may not have to face this impossible challenge alone.”
Besides Gosling, Project Hail Mary stars Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt, the leader of the Hail Mary project; Lionel Boyce as Officer Steve Hatch, a government official working with Stratt; Ken Leung as Yáo Li-Jie, the commander of the Hail Mary ship; and Milana Vayntrub as Olesya Ilyukhina, a crewmember on the Hail Mary.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller direct Project Hail Mary from a screenplay by Drew Goddard. Project Hail Mary is the first directorial feature from Lord and Miller since 2014’s 22 Jump Street.
Project Hail Mary is based on Andy Weir‘s bestselling novel of the same name. Weir previously wrote The Martian, another space novel that became a 2015 movie starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott. Goddard also penned the screenplay to The Martian.
Project Hail Mary producers include Gosling, Lord, Miller, Weir, Amy Pascal, Aditya Sood, and Rachel O’Connor.
Project Hail Mary opens in theaters on March 20, 2026.
