Renowned former MTV VJ and influential figure in the music industry, Matt Pinfield, has shared encouraging news with his fans regarding his health. He is making gradual progress in his recovery journey following a significant stroke he experienced earlier this year. Pinfield’s determination to overcome this health challenge is evident as he states he is “slowly but surely” getting back on his feet.
Matt Pinfield, who previously served as the Vice President of Columbia Records in the A&R department and has held various radio roles over the last two decades, including co-hosting The Power Hour on AXS TV, faced a life-altering stroke on January 6. After experiencing this serious health emergency, he is set to make his first significant public appearance since the event. Pinfield will host the upcoming ceremony honoring Green Day as they receive a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Recently, Pinfield took to social media to share his first update since early January, offering his followers a glimpse into his ongoing recovery journey ahead of the May 1 event. “Slowly but surely recovering… lots of physical therapy… Fighting my way back!!” he expressed to his fans, emphasizing his determination to take it “one day at a time” as he navigates through this challenging phase of his life.
In a heartfelt update shared in early March, Pinfield disclosed that he had been in a coma and received treatment in the ICU after the stroke incident in January. “I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. He revealed that he had been unresponsive for two months, during which time friends feared they were saying goodbye. The medical team did not anticipate that he would regain the ability to speak or walk again, making his progress even more remarkable.
Although Pinfield acknowledged that his recovery will be a long and arduous process, he has also shared his aspirations to return to his radio hosting duties in the near future. He expressed deep gratitude towards his eldest daughter, Jessica, for stepping in to manage his medical and financial responsibilities during his recovery. “She’s the one who saved my life,” Pinfield praised his daughter, highlighting her vital role in protecting his well-being.
During the upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Pinfield will be joined by renowned personalities such as Serena Williams, the legendary tennis player, and Ryan Reynolds, the accomplished actor and producer, both of whom will be guest speakers for the esteemed event.
The star honoring Green Day will be located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, conveniently situated next to the iconic Amoeba Music store. This significant event will be streamed live on the Walk of Fame’s official website, marking the 2,810th star ceremony since the famous tourist attraction was inaugurated in 1960.
