Resurrection Star David Zayas Promises Explosive Season 1 Finale

David Zayas has revealed that Dexter: Resurrection will have an “explosive” finale that will pay off what the show has been building towards. After previously starring in Dexter as Detective Angel Batista, Zayas’ character has made a tension-filled return for Dexter: Resurrection. Now suspecting Dexter Morgan has committed a slew of grisly crimes, Zayas’ character has been on the hunt for evidence against his former friend.

After many fans were left baffled and wanting an explanation for the original Dexter‘s ending, Dexter: Resurrection has provided an opportunity to rewrite the show’s legacy. Thankfully, Dexter: Resurrection’s talented and star-studded cast have helped to craft an already captivating season. According to Zayas, however, it seems fans haven’t seen the best yet.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Zayas gave a captivating tease of Dexter: Resurrection’s upcoming finale. According to Zayas’ remarks, Resurrection will handle the show’s many storylines that have been set up, which will come to an “explosive” head. Check out his comments below:

ScreenRant: What can you tease us about the finale, how this ties this first season altogether?

David Zayas: The finale is going to be as good as the first episode. I think that the writers have done an amazing job to tell these stories because there’s a lot of storylines that they have to figure out, but I think that the explosive last episode, you’ll have to wait and see what happens.

ScreenRant: The threat of “this doesn’t end well for you.” Is that something that is an empty promise or is Dexter going to bring that around?

David Zayas: I mean, it’s pretty obvious, right? Is in the car with the Bay Harbor Butcher and he’s telling him that he’s not going to let things go. He’s telling him that. So it’s pretty obvious that there’s danger. I mean, the show probably wouldn’t even be interesting if danger wasn’t there. What happens is something to be seen.

What This Means For Dexter: Resurrection

Zayas has starred in shows like Dexter, Oz, and now Dexter: Resurrection. Due to his Dexter and Oz roles alone, Zayas has portrayed characters who’ve lived through incredibly intense situations. His characters have even had to cope with extreme prison violence and a massive hurricane.

Given the scope of Zayas’ career, his remarks take on a new level of gravity and tease how the spinoff is headed into truly uncharted territory. If Zayas says that Dexter: Resurrection’s finale is going to be “explosive,” it seems like something truly wild must take place.

After only a handful of Dexter: Resurrection’s episodes had aired, it was abundantly clear that the revival series was very ambitious. In fact, the team behind Resurrection deserves an incredible amount of credit for opting to go so big with the show, while also somehow keeping everything on track.

The revival series has taken up several storylines from Dexter and the previous spinoff, Dexter: New Blood. Through the addition of David Zayas’ character and Dexter Morgan’s son, the titular character has also had to cope with many of the ghosts from his past.

If that wasn’t enough, Resurrection has introduced several new storylines that have to go somewhere. Whether it is Morgan’s friendship with his lovable landlord or his involvement with a group of criminals who are both similar to and nothing like himself, the character has a lot going on.

Thankfully, Zayas confirmed that the finale would grapple with the show’s many storylines. That alone would be exciting enough. However, now that the tease of an “explosive” finale has been added to the mix, I can’t wait to see how Dexter: Resurrection ends.
