Hulu has officially revived the beloved animated series King of the Hill, which was announced over two years ago. Recently, fans have been treated to an exciting first look at the upcoming series through a brand-new poster. This poster captures the essence of the show while hinting at the new adventures and storylines that await its loyal audience. Unlike most animated television shows that maintain their characters at a fixed age, the much-anticipated revival of King of the Hill will introduce a significant time leap. As depicted in the newly released poster, the familiar characters are now noticeably older, with Boomhauer appearing to have aged the most dramatically. Fans can expect to see Hank Hill, who remains as bewildered and frustrated by modern technology as ever. In the vibrant scene, Bill is enjoying a food delivery from Mega Lo Eats, Dale is engrossed in a VR headset while vaping, and Boomhauer is absorbed in his tablet. Adding to the quirky dynamic, a drone can be seen delivering a case of Alamo beer in the background, highlighting the series’ signature blend of humor and social commentary.
Returning to voice iconic characters, Mike Judge will reprise his roles as both Hank Hill and Boomhauer. Joining him are a talented voice cast, including Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon voicing Bobby, Stephen Root as Bill, Ashley Gardner as Nancy, and Lauren Tom portraying Minh and Connie. Mike Judge will also take on the role of executive producer alongside Greg Daniels, while Saladin Patterson steps in as the showrunner. Craig Erwich, the president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu, and Disney Branded Television streaming originals, expressed enthusiasm about the revival, stating, “We are all so excited to welcome back Hank, Peggy, and Bobby, and to see what they have to say about the world we live in and continue the conversations we began years ago. In a bittersweet note, Johnny Hardwick, who lent his voice to Dale Gribble, sadly passed away in 2023. It has been reported that he had completed work on several episodes of the new season prior to his death. The future of his character remains uncertain; the creators may choose to retire Dale or potentially find another actor to take over the role. Both 20th Television Animation and Hulu released a heartfelt joint statement, saying, “Johnny Hardwick was an incredibly beloved member of the King of the Hill family, whose tremendous talent, brilliant humor, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to work with him over the past 25 years. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and family as we mourn the loss of one of the animation greats. His voice gave life to one of our most iconic characters, and he will be truly missed.”
A special sneak peek of the highly anticipated revival is set to be showcased at the ATX TV Festival during a panel featuring the cast and crew on May 30th. While the show does not have an official release date just yet, it is expected to debut on Hulu later this year, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of this iconic series.
