Reflecting on their unique status, Smith shared with Rolling Stone in 2019, “One of the wonderful aspects of our band is that we can headline Glastonbury, perform at Hyde Park, and be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, yet we still maintain our identity as a slightly eccentric and outsider band. This is a perfect position for us to inhabit.”
