Ronda Rousey Returns to MMA to Face Gina Carano on Netflix

Ronda Rousey is returning to the ring.

Almost ten years after her last MMA fight, the mixed martial artist announced her comeback to face fellow former fighter Gina Carano.

“I’ve been waiting so long to announce this: Me and Gina Carano are going to throw down in the biggest super fight in women’s combat sports history!” Ronda stated in a Feb. 17 announcement to ESPN. “This is for all MMA fans past, present, and future. More to come… much more.”

The matchup between Ronda and Gina—organized by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions—will stream live on May 16 on Netflix.

After her MMA career, Ronda—mother to daughters La’akea Browne, 4, and Liko’ula Browne, 13 months, with husband Travis Browne—wrestled with WWE until 2023 and has appeared in the Fast & Furious and The Expendables franchises. For her part, Gina last fought in 2009 and has since been featured in Fast & Furious 6, Deadpool and The Mandalorian.

After Ronda, 39, announced her upcoming fight, Gina explained how the matchup was arranged.
