Sabrina Carpenter Shaves for Interview Magazine’s September 2025 Cover

Interview may not attract the same level of attention it once did during the magazine’s peak years. However, Mel Ottenberg continues to secure top talents from the realms of fashion, entertainment, and beyond as cover stars. Recent covers feature names such as Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Lily-Rose Depp, Selena Gomez (with Benny Blanco), Natalie Portman, and SZA. Ottenberg, who assumed the role of editor-in-chief in 2021, has chosen Sabrina Carpenter as the Interview magazine cover girl for September 2025. The Grammy Award-winning American singer collaborates with photographer Brianna Capozzi for this issue, with styling by Mel Ottenberg himself. In a quirky cover shot, Sabrina shaves her face (seemingly paying homage to the iconic 1965 cover of Esquire) while wearing a Valentino bustier.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“This is quite disturbing!” exclaimed BalkaniStaCouture immediately after seeing the cover.

“So confusing! Why is she so far to the left? I guess the photo of Virna Lisi shaving inspires this,” noted forum member GERGIN.

“Boring. Sabrina Carpenter never does anything original. Always referencing images from the past,” criticized an unimpressed jeje10.

“The shaving adds a sense of quirk to the cover but it’s making zero sense to me. The cropping and composition are also very strange and off-putting. A shame too because I think Sabrina has been styled quite nicely here. The Valentino corset looks great!” commented vogue28.

MModa stated: “It might not be her best cover to date, but I see Sabrina Carpenter and I am very satisfied with the cover!”
