Renowned musicians Sammy Hagar and Kirk Hammett are currently in talks about an exciting new collaboration that promises to be both innovative and captivating. They have even brainstormed a title for their upcoming project, which is set to revolve around themes of the supernatural, particularly showcasing the Red Rocker‘s fascination with aliens. This intriguing concept builds on Hagar’s long-standing interest in extraterrestrial life and cosmic phenomena.
“You know who’s a big fan of all of that? Kirk Hammett from Metallica. We’re in the early stages of writing a song titled ‘The Seven Sisters.’ While we’re not officially writing it yet, we are actively discussing it. ‘The Seven Sisters’ refers to the Pleiades, which is believed to be the origin point for many of these otherworldly beings,” Hagar revealed in a recent interview on the UCR Podcast, which you can listen to below. “As we conclude the song, we’re planning to transition into [part of] “Silver Lights” [from Hagar’s 1976 solo album Nine on a Ten Scale].”
It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first instance where the Red Rocker has explored the theme of aliens and their connection to our planet. Notably, he composed “Love Walks In” during his tenure with Van Halen, which allowed him to delve into cosmic connections in a unique and profound way—reflecting a universe that he has felt a part of for many years. His childhood passion for astronomy led him to purchase a telescope and immerse himself in UFO literature, ultimately inspiring him to craft several songs that draw from the mysteries of the lunar realm. This includes the aforementioned “Silver Lights” and other notable tracks such as “Space Station No. 5,” featured on the debut album by Montrose in 1974.

“I’m a staunch believer—I have seen, felt, and even been contacted multiple times,” he shared with Guitar World. “I have received insights that have proven invaluable in my life from these experiences. It may sound peculiar, but I feel like they have utilized me in an experimental way. In simple terms, they have downloaded information from my mind,” he elaborated, providing a glimpse into his profound experiences.

Kirk Hammett, widely recognized for his obsession with horror films and collectibles, also developed an early interest in the mysteries of the universe. “The film 2001: A Space Odyssey had an enormous impact on me,” he explained during an interview with UCR in 2022. “When it premiered, my father took me to see it in theaters, and I was only six or seven years old! Experiencing that film on the big screen was monumental. Although I didn’t grasp much of the narrative, the overall mood, atmosphere, and exceptional soundtrack left a lasting impression on me.”
