After an impressive career spanning over five decades, iconic musician Sammy Hagar has expressed that he may be reaching the final chapter of his extensive touring journey. In a candid interview with the Miami Herald, the former frontman of Van Halen shared his thoughts, saying, “I don’t think I want to go on tour anymore.” He emphasized his desire to balance his personal preferences with his dedication to his fans, stating, “I hate to say that, because I don’t want to piss my fans off.” This acknowledgment reflects the challenges artists face as they navigate their careers while considering their health and well-being.

Last summer, Hagar enjoyed great success during the Best of All Worlds tour, which celebrated the legendary Van Halen legacy across the United States. However, he now desires a more manageable performance schedule, focusing on residencies and special one-off shows rather than extensive tours. He is set to launch a revamped version of the Best of All Worlds show at a highly anticipated nine-date residency in Las Vegas, starting on April 30.

In his conversation, Hagar conveyed a clear message to his manager, stating, “Don’t take any tours, let me do this residency.” He expressed hope that if he enjoys the experience, he might be willing to extend his performance schedule further. “If I like it enough, I’ll do another one. And if that’s successful I’ll do another one,” he explained, highlighting his desire to prolong his career while reducing the physical toll of constant travel. “With this, I don’t have to travel, I don’t have to unpack and pack and get on an airplane every day,” he added, acknowledging the physical strain, particularly on his shoulders, that comes with frequent touring. Ultimately, he emphasized his identity as a performer, stating, “I’m a performer, at the end of the day.”

As anticipation builds for his Las Vegas residency, Hagar has assured fans that the setlists will feature exciting changes. He will be joined on stage by renowned musicians such as Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, Kenny Aronoff, and Rai Thistlethwayte, promising a memorable experience for attendees.

Among the notable additions to the setlist is the powerful track “Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do),” the lead single from Van Halen’s acclaimed 1995 album Balance. Hagar candidly remarked, ?Technically it’s a brutal song to sing. I painted myself in a corner.? Nevertheless, he affirmed, ?[W]e will be doing it at the residency in Vegas. I?m going to add it to the show,? showcasing his commitment to delivering a dynamic performance for his fans.
