In a recent conversation with GQ, Jay-Z opened up about the allegations against him and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. When asked, “How would you rate your 2025?” the “Empire State Of Mind” rapper expressed that he was “heartbroken.” He remarked, “I’m glad we got right to that so we could just get that out of the way.”

The rapper added, “Like I was really heartbroken by everything that occurred. We’re in a space now where it’s almost like consequence is not thought about enough. Because everything is so instant.”

Jay-Z continued by explaining how the lawsuit left him with “uncontrollable anger.” The 56-year-old further elaborated, “I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone—that’s a thing that you better be super sure. It used to be like that.”

He further stated, “You had to be super sure before you put those kinds of things on a person. Especially a person like me. Even when we were doing the worst things, we had those kinds of rules.”

The father of three continued, “There was a line: no women, no kids. You hear those sayings, but those are the things that I took from the street. We lived and died by that. So it’s strict for me; it meant a lot to me.”

He concluded, “I took that really hard. I knew that we were going to walk through that because, first of all, it’s not true. And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”

For those unaware, the lawsuit was filed in October 2024 by an anonymous woman regarding an alleged incident from 2000. Months later, the lawsuit was amended to name Jay-Z as a defendant. He denied the claims and referred to it as a “blackmail attempt” (via Page Six). In February 2025, the lawsuit was officially dropped without a settlement. Furthermore, the rapper described the outcome as a “victory.”
