Skeleton Crew Season 2 Ideas from the Creators

The creators of Skeleton Crew have exciting concepts for a potential season 2, though the series’ recent low ratings may pose a challenge to its continuation.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, season 2

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has officially concluded its run on Disney+, raising the question of whether the series will return for a much-anticipated season 2. However, the outlook appears challenging. The two-episode premiere garnered the lowest viewership of all Star Wars series debuts, even trailing behind The Acolyte. Despite this, the series has garnered some of the most favorable reviews within the franchise, matching the acclaim of the initial two seasons of The Mandalorian. This paradox of critical acclaim versus viewership presents a complex scenario for the show’s future.

In a recent discussion with Entertainment Weekly, Skeleton Crew creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford expressed their willingness to explore the possibility of another season, contingent on the right circumstances.

Watts shared, ?We haven?t delved deeply into those discussions yet. I?m based in New York, Ford is in Oakland, while everyone else involved in the show is primarily in Los Angeles, and currently managing real-life priorities.? He continued, ?In terms of our next steps, we?re eager to have those conversations, but understandably, everyone is preoccupied with pressing matters, like the devastating wildfires. Nevertheless, we?re thrilled that the audience is discovering the show, and it?s encouraging to see our viewership steadily grow with each episode. The positive word-of-mouth has been fantastic, and we?re excited to reconvene soon and discuss the future.?

Watts further elaborated, ?We certainly have concepts swirling in our minds. We?re awaiting feedback from everyone involved, but we?ve always envisioned a potential trajectory for the story, even before we embarked on creating the first season. There?s a wealth of possibilities ahead, and we hope the audience recognizes that potential.?
