What a time to be Breezy Johnson!

Just days after the skier took home Team USA’s first gold medal of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, Breezy got an even bigger surprise when her boyfriend, Connor Watkins, proposed at the bottom of the super-G track Thursday.

“You have worked so hard and achieved so much,” Connor said, as he got down on one knee, as seen in a video posted by Today, “and yet you still find the time to love me, to make me feel special, and most importantly, you help me love myself.”

There’s only one way I want to spend the rest of my life, and that is by your side. I love you Breezy, will you marry me?

Tears ran down the 30-year-old’s face as she nodded yes, with the pair kissing amid cheers from their family, friends, and Breezy’s Team USA comrades.

The special moment came after an otherwise disappointing super-G run for Breezy, after she crashed in Thursday’s final, following a collision with one of the course’s barricades. She was one of more than a dozen skiers who did not finish after either crashing or skiing off the course. Connor opened up about the proposal on Today, calling the experience “incredibly surreal.”

Every time she goes down the hill, I’m nervous. I wanted her to do well, but I just want her to be safe, too. So, when she got up after the crash and was good — that was a sigh of relief, and then my heart started racing again because I knew I was about to go and get down on my own knee and propose.

The mountains don’t always cooperate with what you’re planning. So, this was plan A. There was a plan B. Luckily, she got up and was fine, and we can stick with Plan A.

Overall, Connor said the games have been both “lovely” and “incredible” for the couple, who will remember both Breezy’s win and his proposal, for the rest of their lives. As for Breezy, while she admitted to NBC News she “may have” hinted to Connor that she had envisioned being proposed to at the Olympics, the reality was “so much better” than she could have ever imagined.

“It’s definitely a lot more crazy with everything just happening all at once,” Breezy shared.

And the reality of it is so different than the way you imagined, and so much better.

The couple told NBC that they planned to spend Thursday celebrating with family and friends in Cortina and hoped to visit Livigno, the site of other Olympic competitions during their time in Italy.

“There’s nothing better than doing well and having somebody to share it with,” Johnson gushed.
