A new update has hinted at potential release date windows for Slow Horses Season 6 and Season 7. Gary Oldman confirmed the next chapter will begin filming after the sixth season wraps. The announcement drew attention as the Apple TV+ spy drama continues adapting Mick Herron’s Slough House novels.
Release Dates for Slow Horses Season 6 and 7
Gary Oldman confirmed in an interview with ScreenRant that filming for Season 7 will begin at the end of October. This follows shortly after production wrapped on Season 6. The production timeline suggests Season 6 could come out in 2026 and Season 7 in 2027.
The British spy drama premiered on Apple TV+ in April 2022. It adapts Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, with each season based on a single book. The show follows a team of sidelined MI5 agents, with Oldman portraying Jackson Lamb. Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sophie Okonedo, Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, and Aimee-Ffion Edwards are also part of the cast. Will Smith created the series and planned it as a long-running project. However, he will exit the show post-Season 5. But it seems the creative team structured its roadmap well in advance.
Oldman told Screen Rant, “This was Will’s last show, Season 5, and we had a whole new team come in. We’ve already shot Season 6, it’s in the can, and at the end of October, we start Season 7, and that’s a new team.” His remarks indicate that filming continues at a steady pace. Notably, Apple TV+ renewed the series through at least its seventh season in July 2025.
Apple seems to be filming back-to-back seasons while earlier ones are still airing. While this approach is not very common among streaming services, it reflects the production model chosen for Slow Horses, which uses Herron’s novels as ready-made story blueprints. Season 5 is currently airing, with the following seasons already in advanced stages of completion.
Given the filming schedule, Seasons 6 and 7 are likely to target release windows in 2026 and 2027, respectively. The series has steadily built a reputation as one of Apple TV+’s most acclaimed original dramas since its debut.
