Sparks Fly Between Charlie Cox and Zooey Deschanel in New ‘Merv’ Image

There are numerous reasons why dogs are considered man’s best friend, thanks to their unwavering loyalty, affectionate nature, and ability to uplift our spirits during tough times. Additionally, they seem to possess an extraordinary instinct for knowing what is best for their humans. Prime Video will soon highlight the bond between owner and dog in the upcoming film, Merv. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we present a brand-new image that beautifully captures the film’s heartfelt essence. Starring Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) and Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again), this romantic comedy revolves around a couple who break up but are guided back together by their family dog.

Our exclusive preview showcases the three main characters in the film, with Anna (Deschanel) and Russ (Cox) seated at a table while their cherished dog, Merv, snuggles between them. It appears that the trio is enjoying a sunny getaway, with Merv relishing the shared affection from both of his humans as they reconnect.

Breakups can be challenging for anyone, and shared pets often struggle to adjust to the new situation. In Merv, the title character faces difficulties adapting to his new environment after his two beloved humans — Russ (Cox) and Anna (Deschanel) — end their romantic relationship. Upon realizing that Merv is experiencing depression due to their breakup, Russ and Anna decide to take one last vacation together with Merv in hopes of lifting his spirits. However, they discover that this sunny getaway might be just what they need to revive their relationship.
