In light of her subsequent arrest, this emotional moment has taken on a chilling significance, leading many to question the authenticity of her grief.

“For those unfamiliar with me, my name is Sarah, and I am the daughter of Kristin Brock and the stepdaughter of James Brock,” Patrick began her poignant speech, visibly emotional and appearing to struggle to maintain her composure.

Wearing a light blue dress, the grieving teenager continued, “I just wanted to say goodbye to my mother and James since we never got the chance to.” Her heartfelt words resonated with the mourners, evoking both sympathy and skepticism given the circumstances.

“I was so used to you both always being here that I never once considered a time when you wouldn’t be,” Patrick expressed through tears. “Now, I realize I have no clue how much I needed you until this very moment.” Her emotional reflection highlighted the depth of her perceived loss, even as questions lingered about her role in their deaths.

In her heartfelt address, she also directed her words towards her late stepfather.

“For James, thank you for all the valuable life lessons you imparted and for being the best bonus dad anyone could ask for,” Patrick stated. “Your heart will finally be healed in heaven, and neither of you will experience pain anymore. While that provides me some comfort, it’s evident your struggles were not meant to conclude there.”

Regarding her mother, Patrick noted, “Everything we went through does not define the kind of person you were or the mother you became. You were a beautiful, kind soul filled with gratitude, and incredibly strong.” Her words sought to honor her mother’s memory amid the unfolding tragedy.

The teenager recited a letter allegedly written by her mother to her stepfather, expressing that it brings her “peace” and “closure” amidst the pain of their loss.

“I want to remember them for who they were and not for what happened to them, cherishing the time we spent together rather than mourning the moments we won’t share,” she continued, emphasizing a desire to honor their legacy positively.

“I will always be her sunshine, but she will forever be my star shining from above,” Patrick added about her mother. “At night, I can look up at the sky and see Mama and Jamie, knowing they will save me a seat in heaven, just like they did for you. I’m sorry…”

“Though there’s nothing we can do to bring them back, we still have control over how we treat those around us today,” she stated, concluding her emotional eulogy with gratitude towards her friends and family for helping her navigate through “my worst nightmare.”

According to the video, she ended her heartfelt speech by saying, “I’m sorry,” before stepping away from the podium, leaving many questioning her sincerity.

The footage was reportedly recorded by a funeral attendee and saved by James’ niece, Krysten Dowda, who posted the clip on her Facebook and spoke to the Daily Mail. According to The Sun, the funeral took place at Catalyst Church in Carrollton, Georgia.

Alongside the video, Dowda criticized Patrick in her Facebook post, labeling the teenager a “monster.”

“After their funeral, once I realized someone had recorded this, I immediately saved it because I knew that one day everyone would see this for what it was,” she wrote, expressing her dismay and disbelief.

“The feeling of being at a funeral to say goodbye to someone you loved, and thinking to yourself, ‘Am I really witnessing the person who murdered them standing up here pretending to cry over them? Does anyone else see this person doing a crying voice but never shedding a single tear?’” she continued, her words echoing the sentiment of many who viewed the footage.

“THIS is what a monster looks like,” she asserted. “Monsters DO come in the form of sweet-looking girls in dresses sometimes. Fortunately in this case, the monster will get to trade her dress for a jumpsuit and handcuffs.”

While speaking with the Daily Mail, Dowda claimed that Patrick “pretend cried at the funeral,” questioning the authenticity of her grief.

“The main thing… how do you not hear multiple gunshots in a small house?” she asked, raising further doubts about Patrick’s account of the events surrounding the tragic incident.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ashley Hulsey referenced Patrick’s eulogy in an interview with NewsNation following the teenager’s arrest earlier this week, expressing skepticism regarding her apparent emotions.

“I can’t tell you if she had real tears. I wasn’t there to witness it firsthand,” Hulsey remarked. “However, it did seem odd. It felt more like a speech, and at the end, she said, ‘I’m sorry.’”

“Was that, ‘I’m sorry because I might have done this,’ or is it, ‘I’m sorry because I was upset during this eulogy?’” she added, suggesting ambiguity in Patrick’s statement that left many puzzled about her true feelings.

Kristin Brock and James Brock were tragically discovered shot dead in their residence back in February. After five months of a lengthy and intricate investigation, police reached out to Patrick, who was residing with her biological father, to inform her that they had a warrant for her arrest. Subsequently, she turned herself in on Tuesday.

At present, Patrick is facing charges as an adult, which include two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault related to the deaths of her mother and stepfather.

The investigation was initiated on February 20 when the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a teenager reporting that her mother and stepfather had been shot inside their family home, according to WSB’s reporting at that time.

A heartbreaking twist in this tragic story is that it was Patrick’s younger sister, who was just five years old at the time of the murders, who first discovered the bodies. Authorities later determined that the younger daughter was in the home during the shootings but was unaware of what had occurred.

“The youngest daughter found them and then came to tell Sarah, who then made the 911 call,” Hulsey stated during a press conference on Tuesday, detailing the tragic turn of events.

“From the moment the 911 call was received, an exhaustive investigation was launched,” she added, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness of the case.

During this time, Patrick was with her biological father when authorities informed them that the investigation was pointing towards her, according to Law & Crime — and it was her father who assisted her in turning herself in that Tuesday morning.

“We feel confident that she is responsible for their murders,” Hulsey stated during a press conference later that afternoon. “She turned herself in because we notified her that we had warrants for her arrest.”

At the same time, Hulsey noted that the investigation is ongoing and that they are not ruling out the possibility of additional arrests, as they are still uncertain if the alleged suspect acted alone in the tragic incident.

“Our team has sifted through mountains of physical and digital evidence and collaborated with the FBI and GBI crime lab,” she stated, which included the teenager’s tearful speech at her mother’s funeral, a moment investigators suspect may have been a strategy to cover her tracks.

The couple is survived by their seven children, who were part of a blended family at the time of their tragic deaths.

If convicted, Patrick faces a potential sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, marking a devastating turn in this already tragic narrative.

Patrick’s grandfather, Dennis Nolan, spoke with NewsNation’s Banfield on Thursday night, sharing insights from his conversations with both Patrick and investigators regarding the case following her arrest.

“Well, it’s difficult to make any judgment at this point. You know, they need to release the evidence, and I don’t understand what evidence they have,” Nolan stated when asked if he believes she’s innocent. “I believe most of it, from what I understand, is circumstantial. And, you know, she’s my granddaughter; I have to stand behind her. She swears her innocence.”

Nolan mentioned that he spoke with Patrick after her arrest, describing the teenager as “very upset” during their conversation.

“She always looked to me more as a father figure. She was pleading with me to help her. I explained to her that there’s nothing I can do at this point,” Nolan claimed. “She was just begging, ‘Please, please help me. Help me get out of this mess.’ I told her just to do what they say and be cooperative, and we’ll do what we can.”

When asked whether he had spoken with investigators on the case, he stated he “talked to them at length” — while adding, “they don’t release any information.”

“If they had something concrete, they would have arrested her a whole lot sooner. I mean, why? I just can’t imagine her. I mean, she’s a sweet young girl. She’s always been a wonderful little girl. What can I say? I just can’t picture her doing such a horrific thing, especially to her mother. She and her mother were very close, and they were doing great at that time. They had a great relationship,” Nolan expressed, defending his granddaughter’s character.

He later noted that mother-daughter duos “always have their disagreements,” but stated there was “nothing serious” between the two. He also alluded to Brock’s “strange past,” claiming he was part of a “motorcycle gang” and questioned whether the murders were “James’ past coming back to haunt him.”

He claimed investigators told him, “She’s the only one who could have done it” — and when he asked about what evidence they have, they replied, “Well, I can’t tell you that, but I would just say that she’s the only one who could have done it.”

Hulsey, meanwhile, informed Banfield that the teenager’s online presence was of interest to them. “When you choose to post your life online, it becomes fair game,” she stated, indicating that additional arrests were possible.

Patrick was active on TikTok following the tragic deaths of her parents, up until just days before her arrest, according to law enforcement, who confirmed to Law & Order that the since-removed TikTok account @sgrace04282 belonged to the teenager.

In the months between the shootings and her arrest, Patrick appeared to discuss her parents’ deaths on social media with some regularity. One post from May 17, according to Law & Crime, ended with the phrase “Should prob delete later,” where Patrick seemingly questioned how someone could shoot her parents in text overlays.

The TikTok featured a collage of photographs including both the Brocks and her younger sister, according to Law & Crime. In a text overlay, Patrick purportedly wrote, “If you asked me about my mom and stepdad, I’d say I miss them so much.”

“I feel so homesick, and I miss them so much I can’t stand the fact that I can’t see them anymore; this sucks more than anything possible,” the message continued. “I’m in a horror movie that never ends,” expressing her distress in an unsettling manner.

“And on top of everything, I still have no answers. I’m so confused about how someone could have done this and even more confused about why. Why them? Why that? Just why. How could they,” she captioned this post, “Please send prayers for healing,” according to Atlanta NBC affiliate WXIA.

The first post mourning the losses appeared on March 1, just weeks after the Brocks were shot and killed. Over a video post of the couple prior to their deaths, the then-16-year-old Patrick purportedly wrote, “They don’t know it, but a year from now, my 5-year-old sister and I would find them wrongfully shot dead in our home and wouldn’t get to watch me graduate high school, see me walk down the aisle, and couldn’t even say goodbye.”

There have reportedly been numerous videos in the five months between the Brocks’ tragic deaths and Patrick’s arrest for their murders, including many featuring Patrick sobbing and lamenting their absence in her life.
