Alex Rodriguez is coming clean, again.
In his new docuseries Alex vs. ARod, the retired MLB star addresses the steroid scandal that affected his chances of entering the Hall of Fame more than a decade ago. And according to the New York Yankees alum, the program is not an attempt to regain favor with the voters.
“I would go the other way,” Rodriguez said on the Nov. 6 episode of Today. “Now that you saw [the docuseries], I’m definitely not going in the Hall of Fame. I knew the rules, I broke the rules, and if that’s the penalty, that’s completely on me.”
Rodriguez, who mentioned he’s had ample time to reflect on the incident, even received approval from his daughters Natasha, 20, and Ella, 17, to be open and honest about his past.
As he further explained to host Craig Melvin, “This is more of a mental health story than a baseball story and the person just happened to be a baseball player. But it’s important not to forget, it’s important to bring all those things back because the next generation of kids are watching and they’re learning.”
