This reimagined version of “Murder by Numbers” has been transformed into a big band arrangement by the talented bassist and band leader Christian McBride. With Sting lending his signature vocals and Summers showcasing his guitar prowess, it opens McBride’s upcoming album, Without Further Ado, Vol. 1, set to release on August 29. In a press release celebrating this musical reunion, McBride expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am absolutely thrilled to have Sting and Andy Summers — two-thirds of one of the most influential bands in history, The Police — join me for one of their songs.” He praised Sting for his continual evolution as an artist and acknowledged Summers for maintaining his signature blend of sophistication and grit. The new rendition of “Murder by Numbers” signifies the first collaboration between Sting and Summers since the highly celebrated reunion tour of The Police in 2007-2008, which showcased their enduring appeal and connection to fans.

Additionally, Summers contributed his guitar skills to the initial two tracks of Sting’s solo album, …Nothing Like the Sun, released in 1987. Over the years, Sting has made guest appearances on two albums by Summers: the 1990 release Charming Snakes and the 1999 project Green Chimneys: The Music Of Thelonious Monk, underscoring their collaborative history.

Currently, Sting is captivating audiences across Europe on his 3.0 tour, where he revisits the classic three-piece band format reminiscent of The Police. Earlier this year, a live album from this tour was released to great acclaim, further solidifying his status as a live performer.
