Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor‘s new NBC series has expanded its cast once again. According to a new report, the comedy has added Suburgatory star Jane Levy to its lineup, which already includes two cast members. The show is Goor and the network’s latest collaboration following Parks and Recreation, the aforementioned Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Grand Crew.
Jane Levy joins Dan Goor’s new NBC comedy series cast
Jane Levy has reportedly been tapped to star in Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor’s new untitled NBC single-camera workplace comedy series, being co-created by Luke Del Tredici. She joins previously announced cast members, Jake Johnson and Keith David.
According to Deadline, the show takes place in Los Angeles and is set in the world of private detectives. It is described as continuing “the proud tradition of Los Angeles private eyes that began with Philip Marlowe and will end with this show.”
Levy will essay Faye, a quick-witted and intelligent investigative journalist, who is “smart, resourceful, and a force of nature.” Meanwhile, Johnson stars as Mickey Wilder, an ex-LAPD cop-turned-private investigator. David portrays Garner Taggert, the head of the Garner Taggert PI Agency, where his son Mitch and Mickey serve as the main PIs. Taggert is a “tough guy” with an outdated worldview.
The series marks Levy’s second with NBC. She previously headlined Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist as the title character, Zoey Clarke, who could hear people’s inner thoughts as songs. For her performance, she bagged a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
In addition to co-creating the series, Goor and Del Tredici assume writing and executive producing duties. Meanwhile, The Naked Gun helmer Akiva Schaffer directs and executive-produces the pilot.
Levy has been active in the acting industry since the 2010s. Her credits, aside from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Suburgatory, include Shameless, Castle Rock, and There’s…Johnny!, What/If, and films like Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, Office Uprising, and Pretenders. Her most recent movie is the 2025 war satire, Atropia. She is also currently gearing up for Whalefall, co-starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin, and premiering on October 16, 2026.
