Sydney Sweeney is facing backlash once again after climbing the iconic Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles and draping it with bras—reportedly as part of a promotional stunt for the launch of her new lingerie line.
Sweeney Covered the Hollywood Sign in Bras
TMZ obtained video of Sweeney scaling one of the massive letters on the Hollywood Sign while holding a string of bras, all as a production crew filmed the spectacle. According to the outlet, Sweeney’s team did secure a permit to film at the Hollywood Sign, but that permit reportedly did not allow for touching or climbing the structure. As a result, the stunt could potentially land her in legal trouble, as it may constitute criminal trespass and/or vandalism.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which owns the Hollywood Sign, told TMZ, “There was no permission granted to do this as is required.” As for whether they will file a police report, they said, “We are still investigating how and under what authority (if any) the Sweeney production accessed the site of the Sign.” No matter what happens, I would imagine that all publicity is good publicity for Sweeney’s lingerie venture.

Sweeney has had a string of box-office failures, including Madame Web, Eden, and Christy, but she bounced back in a big way with The Housemaid, a thriller directed by Paul Feig and based on the novel by Freida McFadden. The film grossed $247 million worldwide against a $35 million budget, so naturally, a sequel is already in the works.
It was recently announced that she’s set to star in Custom of the Country, an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s classic 1913 novel of the same name. She will play Undine Spragg, an ambitious Midwestern young woman who attempts to ascend the social ladder through ruthlessness, seduction, vanity, and manipulation in early 20th-century New York City society. In addition to starring in the film, Sweeney will also produce alongside Charles Finch for Rabbit’s Foot Films and Alison Owen for Monumental Pictures. Josie Rourke (Mary Queen of Scots) will direct Custom of the Country and write the adaptation.
Sweeney is also set to return for the long-awaited third season of Euphoria, which will debut on HBO on April 12.
