American Eagle is taking a stand amidst ongoing discussions.
Following the heated debate that erupted surrounding its recent ad campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney, the clothing brand has responded to the backlash that accused them of endorsing eugenics.
“This situation exemplifies how social media often misrepresents real-life sentiments,” an American Eagle representative communicated to TMZ on July 30. “The outrage from certain sectors of the online community does not accurately reflect the views of our dedicated customers.”
The representative highlighted that their independent polls revealed an impressive 71 percent of participants found the advertisement to be appealing.
“Ultimately, this campaign was focused on producing a fantastic pair of jeans and supporting a significant cause, with a portion of the proceeds directed towards domestic violence prevention initiatives,” the representative elaborated. “Any additional criticism is simply noise that does not resonate with the typical consumer.”
They emphasized, “Regardless of individual opinions about the advertisement, we hope everyone can concur on the necessity of enhancing support and empowerment for individuals affected by domestic violence.”
