After the remarkable success of their debut horror feature film, Talk to Me, the talented directing duo of Danny and Michael Philippou has eagerly signed on to create an exciting new film adaptation of the renowned Street Fighter video game franchise. In addition, they have begun working on a highly anticipated sequel titled Talk 2 Me and have also hinted at the production of a Talk to Me prequel, although the exact details regarding its release remain uncertain. Furthermore, they are developing an action drama project and are passionately pursuing a horror script called Bring Her Back. Their commitment to bringing Bring Her Back to life was so intense that they decided to postpone the Street Fighter project in favor of this horror venture. The film recently completed a successful 41-day shooting schedule at the beginning of August, and it is now set for a theatrical release on May 30. Earlier this month, a captivating full trailer was revealed, and A24 has just released a second trailer to celebrate the Easter holiday – which you can view in the embed above!
As noted earlier, Bring Her Back is being distributed by A24, the same esteemed company responsible for the release of Talk to Me. The production team includes Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton, who were also producers on Talk to Me, representing Causeway Films. A report from Deadline highlighted that the Philippou brothers are also exploring the creation of a documentary that draws inspiration from their own unique experiences within the world of international underground deathmatch wrestling, showcasing their multifaceted creative endeavors.
While specific plot details have been kept under wraps, the release of the teaser trailer provided an intriguing synopsis: A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother. The talented cast of Bring Her Back features notable actors such as Billy Barratt from Invasion, Jonah Wren Philips from Sweet Tooth, Sally-Anne Upton from Wentworth, Stephen Phillips of The Leftovers, promising newcomer Sora Wong, and the acclaimed two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins, known for her roles in The Shape of Water and Blue Jasmine.
