Tara Lipinski Discusses Taking Daughter to Winter Games

Olympics 2026: Tara Lipinski Defends Bringing Daughter Georgie, 2, to Winter Games

Tara Lipinski is dedicated to all of her pursuits.

The Olympic gold medalist shared an inspiring message about balancing her professional ambitions while raising her 2-year-old daughter Georgie—whom she shares with husband Todd Kapostasy—as she serves as a figure skating analyst at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games.

“Maybe I don’t want to choose,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories Feb. 6 alongside photos of herself carrying the toddler on her shoulders. “For so long, women weren’t given that option. I want my daughter to see a mother who chases her dreams and shows up fully for her.”

“I can do both,” the 43-year-old continued, “in my own way at the same time.”

After winning a gold medal in figure skating at the 1998 Winter Olympics, Tara launched a career in broadcasting, eventually joining Terry Gannon and Johnny Weir as a commentator during the 2014 Games. In fact, becoming a mom in 2023 only fueled her desire to succeed in her career.
