El Paso, Texas police used a suspect as a human punching bag, severely beating him over the weekend, and it was all captured on video.
In the footage, several officers are seen taking the suspect into custody, with one officer kneeing him in the face and repeatedly punching him in the back while he is kneeling on the ground.
The clip then shows the same officer hunching over the suspect who is still on the ground, slamming his fist into the suspect’s back before pulling out a taser and using it on him.
Witnesses reacted with shock as another officer punched a bystander who attempted to intervene.
The El Paso Police Department confirmed to TMZ that the disturbing footage relates to an arrest made on Saturday after they received a report about an individual assaulting a security guard.
Police stated that the guard attempted to escort a vomiting individual out of the establishment when 25-year-old Nima Dhendup struck him, prompting “several individuals” to join in against the guard as well.
When officers arrived, they observed 30 to 40 people yelling and saw the security guard trying to detain Dhendup. The subsequent events were captured on video.
Another 25-year-old, Menda Wangchuk Dorji, “continued to intervene and ignored officers’ commands,” resulting in his arrest alongside Dhendup.
Dhendup faces charges for assaulting a public servant with a bond set at $10,000, while Dorji is detained for resisting arrest with a $5,000 bond.
The El Paso Police did not immediately respond to TMZ’s inquiry regarding the apparent excessive use of force during the arrest.
