The Batman II Script Expected Soon by James Gunn

Typically, blockbuster movies emerging from well-established franchises aim to capitalize on their momentum without delay. However, the process does not always unfold as planned. While The Batman, released in 2022, introduced a fresh perspective on the iconic Gotham detective, the newly rebooted DC Universe is simultaneously working on establishing its own narrative continuity featuring the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. So, what is currently happening regarding the highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ acclaimed Batman universe? The film’s lead actor, Robert Pattinson, expressed his hope for production to commence this year. However, according to DC Films head James Gunn, the script is still in the works, although he is optimistic about receiving it soon.

As reported by Deadline, during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn provided a brief update on the status of The Batman II. Gunn stated,

“What Matt’s doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary. We’re supposed to see that script shortly, and I can’t wait.”

Furthermore, Gunn also shared insights regarding the future of the Wonder Woman franchise within his new DC Universe. While discussing the developments, James Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman film is officially in the early stages of production. He mentioned, “We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman‘s being written right now,” which indicates exciting progress for fans eagerly anticipating updates. These snippets of information resonate with the lines from Gunn’s recent Superman trailer, in which Mister Terrific advises Kal-El to stop goofing around, to which Superman responds, “I’m not messing around. I’m doing important stuff.”

Earlier this year, Robert Pattinson, known for his role in The Batman, humorously expressed his frustration regarding the delays during an interview for his upcoming project, Mickey 17. In a light-hearted manner, Pattinson remarked on how audiences appear more receptive to arthouse films lately, stating, “I don’t know what happened but for the first time in ages, movies that a few years ago would be considered really arthouse, somehow the audience are hearing about them and they’re excited about them. It’s great.” His co-star, Naomi Ackie, chimed in with enthusiasm, “It’s amazing. And obviously, you’re Batman – are you going to do Batman again soon?” To which Pattinson humorously replied, “I f*cking hope so. [laughs] I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f*cking old Batman by the sequel. [both laugh]”
