Sam Mendes is currently working on The Beatles — A Four Film Cinematic Event, featuring Harris Dickinson (Babygirl) as John Lennon, Paul Mescal (Gladiator II) as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) as Ringo Starr. The initial glimpses of The Beatles have been shared through postcards at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, co-founded by Paul McCartney.

What We Know About The Beatles
This marks the first occasion that Apple Corps Ltd. and the Beatles—Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, along with the families of John Lennon and George Harrison—have provided the complete life story and music rights for a scripted film. Mendes will direct all four films, each concentrating on a different band member. Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari), Peter Straughan (Conclave), and Jack Thorne (Adolescence) are responsible for writing the scripts.
Mendes officially announced the cast at CinemaCon last year. He mentioned that he had been “trying to do a [Beatles] film for years” but eventually decided against it because “the story was too big for one film.” He also felt that a TV series wouldn’t suffice. “There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation,” Mendes stated. “I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore and I think we found a way to do that.“
The films will also feature Saoirse Ronan (Little Women) as Linda McCartney, James Norton (Happy Valley) as Brian Epstein, Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex) as Maureen Starkey, Anna Sawai (Shōgun) as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) as George Martin, David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) as Jim McCartney, Leanne Best (Carnival Row) as Mimi Smith, Bobby Schofield (Knightfall) as Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill (The Sandman) as Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who) as Derek Taylor, and Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog) as Allen Klein.
All four films are set to be released simultaneously on April 7, 2028.
