For months, the team behind Prime Video’s acclaimed Biblical series, The Chosen, has been diligently working on the highly-anticipated sixth season. Now, the title’s creator, co-writer, and director, Dallas Jenkins, reveals that the end is in sight, with production returning to American soil to complete the final shots needed before the team can enter post-production. Back in Midlothian, Texas, at the Midlothian Film Campus, the cast and crew are putting the finishing touches on the sixth season on a series of sets that have served as their home over the last few seasons.
Grateful for the globe-trotting journey thus far, but excited to be in the home stretch and back on familiar ground, Jenkins stated,
“I love the fact that we got to film in Italy. I love that we got to film in Utah. We always love coming back home. This is where our base is. This is where the majority of our crew is from.”
In Utah, the team worked in the town of Goshen, where a set owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints depicts ancient Jerusalem. In Italy, they worked sleepless nights in Matera, where filming was underway for the crucifixion of Jonathan Roumie’s Jesus — a plot point that will be central to the story next season. Now, back in Texas, Jenkins and his collaborators can finally see the finish line. Appreciative of the blood, sweat, tears, and countless hours that his teammates have dedicated not just to Season 6 but to the previous five seasons, Jenkins remarked, “To see how far we’ve come and the crew that stuck with us through this time and has grown with the show has been really encouraging.”
The End Is Near
With Seasons 6 and 7, The Chosen will explore two of the most famous stories from the Bible — the crucifixion and resurrection. Both will celebrate cinematic arrivals, with Jenkins feeling the pressure of delivering such iconic tales to his vast fan base. Still, he’s trying to remain grounded in his belief that every story from the Bible is just as important as those that came before and after it, explaining,
“Every moment of Scripture that we portray has equal importance to us, and so this is the culmination of all those moments; however, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we are working any harder on this than we ever do. We work very hard on every season. Season 6 just happens to be a bit bigger.”
The first five seasons of The Chosen are now streaming on Prime Video. Season 6 is expected to arrive in 2026.
