Director of The First Omen is creating a new A24 horror film featuring Josh Hutcherson.
Set to release in 2024, The First Omen was directed by Arkasha Stevenson, marking her debut in feature films. Stevenson co-wrote the screenplay for this prequel to The Omen alongside Tim Smith and Keith Thomas, with the cast including Nell Tiger Free as Margaret, Ralph Ineson as Father Brennan, and Sônia Braga.
What do we know about the new Josh Hutcherson horror movie?
According to Deadline, Stevenson is collaborating with Hutcherson on an untitled horror film for A24. The cast will also feature Frank Dillane, Caleb Landry Jones, and Whitmer Thomas.
“While the logline remains undisclosed, the film is said to focus on a bachelor party that turns into a nightmare,” the article states.
The screenplay is written by Stevenson and Smith. Producers for the film include Lars Knudsen and Emily Hildner from Square Peg, with Ari Aster serving as an executive producer. Additional producers are Tim Smith, Harrison Huffman, and Christina D’Souza. A release date has not been announced yet.
Hutcherson is set to reprise his role as Mike Schmidt in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which will be released in theaters on December 5. He is also currently starring as Dylan in I Love LA, a new comedy series by Rachel Sennott that premiered on HBO Max earlier this month.
Dillane gained recognition for his role as a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) and has appeared in films such as In the Heart of the Sea (2015) and How to Build a Girl (2019). He has been cast as John Willoughby in the upcoming adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, set to release in 2026.
Jones played Sean Cassidy/Banshee in X-Men: First Class (2011) and has been involved in various projects including The Last Exorcism (2010), The Florida Project (2017), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), The Dead Don’t Die (2019), and Dogman (2023). Lastly, Thomas is a comedian who recently featured in A24’s Friendship and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Weapons, both released this year.
