We?ll see. I?ve been reluctant to talk too much about Season 3 because, even though we?ve started shooting it, we haven?t finished writing it yet. We?re still working on the last couple of episodes, and we?ll finalize them before we begin filming the New York segment, which is set to start on February 3.
What I will say is that I don?t view this the way that I guess a lot of TV shows operate, in that I think characters come and go and then return to the show depending on the storyline for that season. A good example is the character of Chelsea from Season 1, portrayed by Fola Evans-Akingbola, whom we really loved.
It was quite difficult for me to call her between seasons one and two to explain that the writers had been developing new narratives, and we were leaning towards stories that didn?t include her. The plot has simply taken us in a different direction, and I felt very sorry to share that news, but we truly appreciate her talent, and I would love the opportunity to bring her back in the future.
She handled the situation gracefully. Eventually, as we neared the end of the season, we managed to carve out a small cameo for her that will serve as a foundation for her return. I can confirm that she will be a part of Season 3.
Regarding Rose, we?re still navigating her storyline. I want to make it clear that we are not interested in artificially forcing characters to fit a specific season?s narrative. Our goal is to tell a story that feels authentic to the moment. I recognize that one of the significant strengths of Season 1 ? and a key element in Season 2 ? is the dynamic between Peter and Rose. Their relationship is exceptionally compelling.
In Season 1, Peter acted as Rose’s protector in a physical sense, whereas in Season 2, it became evident that she also offers him emotional support, which is a beautiful aspect of their bond. However, as the writers and I examine the practical realities of their lives ? Peter’s role as a Night Agent, which exposes him to dangerous situations and a world filled with deceit, versus Rose’s aspirations for a different lifestyle in Silicon Valley ? we question whether their shared trauma is sufficient to bridge the gap in their lifestyles.
This topic is a frequent discussion point for us. I?m not dodging the question; we are still exploring all these creative avenues. Our hope is that this show will enjoy longevity, and the dynamics you mentioned are the subject of extensive conversations in the writers’ room.
Exploring Rose’s Uncertain Future in Season 3
