The Rookie Season 7 Finale Tease from Richard T. Jones

The Rookie consistently captivates audiences with its thrilling season finales, and Season 7 is set to follow that tradition with an exciting climax. As this season approaches its pivotal conclusion, intriguing details about the final episode have begun to emerge. Richard T. Jones, who portrays Lieutenant Wade Grey, has shared tantalizing hints about what viewers can expect in this climactic episode before the summer hiatus. True to form, fans can anticipate a dramatic cliffhanger involving one of the show’s central antagonists. “That’s the thing about Alexi [Hawley]—he always leaves us on a cliffhanger. You’re going to feel a bit frustrated because, as I mentioned, some serious Monica mayhem is coming,” T. Jones revealed to TV Line. Similar to the Season 6 finale, this upcoming episode will also feature support from the FBI, reintroducing a character from the now-cancelled spinoff. “It’s a very significant episode yet again, with the FBI involved; Felix [Solis] returns too [as Agent Garza]… I believe audiences will be thrilled, but it’s a cliffhanger that’ll leave you asking, ‘Oh my goodness, when is it coming back?’” the actor teased.

While T. Jones has hinted at exciting developments, much about the finale remains shrouded in mystery. However, given Monica’s pivotal role, it’s poised to be a major event. She made her comeback in Episode 11 titled “Speed,” where, amid concerns for a bus and its passengers, she cleverly utilized a proxy to pilfer crucial information. Monica’s intelligence and unpredictability make her a formidable foe—potentially the greatest villain that Mid-Wilshire has ever encountered. Unlike many criminals, she operates in ways that keep everyone guessing, allowing her to create chaos from virtually anywhere. Meanwhile, the universe of The Rookie: Feds continues to thrive, and although the specifics of other cast members’ appearances in the finale are uncertain, series star Eric Winter has confirmed that Britt Robertson will feature later in the season. “And Kevin [Zeger]’s partner, Britt, makes an appearance. I have some fantastic scenes with Britt; she’s delightful and incredibly fun to work with. So, there are more collaborations coming throughout the season, effectively integrating the Feds into our storyline while keeping those characters actively involved in our universe,” he shared with TV Insider.

As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding the renewal of The Rookie for an eighth season. This is not unusual, as ABC typically takes its time making renewal decisions. However, recent viewership ratings suggest that there is a strong possibility for the beloved drama to continue. The episode titled “Speed” has garnered the season’s highest ratings, with an impressive 8.25 million viewers tuning in within three days—setting a record for the highest viewership of the season. Moreover, this episode marked the most-watched segment after three days since January 2023, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. These promising numbers significantly enhance the chances of the series returning for another season. In the upcoming episode airing on Tuesday, April 8, viewers can look forward to an unforgettable experience as Celina’s (Lisseth Chavez) embarks on her first solo ride. “When anti-LAPD billboards appear across the city, the team investigates who is behind them. Concurrently, a car bombing triggers an investigation, Miles (Deric Augustine) reconnects with an old friend, and John (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) evaluate their readiness for adoption,” reads the official synopsis for the episode “Three Billboards.”

Make sure to catch new episodes of The Rookie every Tuesday on ABC as we build up to the thrilling season finale.
