World-renowned musicians Damon Albarn, PinkPantheress, and Jamie xx are among the stellar lineup confirmed to perform at British artist and composer Brian Eno‘s impactful event, Together for Palestine.
Scheduled to take place at London’s iconic OVO Arena Wembley on September 17, this significant concert aims to raise funds for the Choose Love charity. All proceeds will directly support Palestinian-led organizations dedicated to providing essential humanitarian relief. Tickets are currently available through My Ticket, offering fans an opportunity to participate in this vital cause.
Additional performers at this remarkable concert include popular acts such as Bastille, Cat Burns, Greentea Peng, Hot Chip, James Blake, King Krule, Mabel, Obongjayar, Paloma Faith, Rachel Chinouriri, and Sampha. The event will also feature talented Palestinian artists like Adnan Joubran, Faraj Suleiman, and Nai Barghouti, with more names expected to be revealed as the date approaches. Additionally, artists such as PinkPantheress, Rina Sawayama, and Riz Ahmed are anticipated to make appearances, adding to the concert’s star-studded lineup.
Brian Eno will take on the role of executive producer for this powerful evening, collaborating with production managers Khaled Ziada, Khalid Abdalla, and Tracey Seaward. Eno emphasized the importance of the concert in his statement, saying, “In the face of the horrors of Gaza, silence becomes complicity. Artists have always played a crucial role in highlighting injustices and envisioning a better future.” He underlined the significance of coming together during this time of need, stating that the concert aims not only to amplify voices but also to reaffirm our collective humanity.
Ziada echoed Eno’s sentiments, asserting, “In a world where governments and mainstream media have fallen silent amidst the genocide, this gathering transforms into a powerful chorus of resistance. It is a space for artists and communities to unite in grief, express anger, and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and all who endure injustice.” This gathering of voices aims to send a clear message of support to those affected.
On July 31, when the event was first announced, Eno shared an extensive statement on Instagram, elaborating on the motivations behind organizing Together for Palestine. He expressed that the situation unfolding in Gaza is not ambiguous, nor is it clouded by conflicting narratives. He referenced numerous non-partisan organizations, including Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders, that have described the crisis as genocide, emphasizing the urgent need to speak out against such atrocities.
Eno continued by stating, “My heartfelt belief is that this evening can serve as a moment of bravery where artists unite to share the truths that resonate within them. This is the role we expect artists to fulfill. Whether performing live on stage or sharing messages via video from across the globe, this concert represents an opportunity for us to stand united and declare that this situation must not persist.”
The ongoing conflict escalated following the attacks on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the tragic loss of over 1,200 Israeli civilians at the hands of Hamas fighters, who also took more than 250 hostages. In the aftermath, Gaza’s Health Ministry has reported that more than 60,000 Palestinians have lost their lives. Additionally, the World Health Organization indicated alarming malnutrition rates among civilians and children during late July, highlighting the dire humanitarian crisis.
Eno was part of a collective of musicians who announced the formation of a syndicate in July, aimed at advocating for artists who speak out against Israel’s military actions in Gaza. They have claimed to face “aggressive, vexatious campaigns” from pro-Israel advocates for their outspoken views. This initiative seeks to protect artists, especially those in the early stages of their careers, from being threatened into silence or facing potential career repercussions from organizations such as U.K. Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).
