Nate Bargatze kept his promise… sort of.
While the host of the 2025 Emmy Awards—held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 14—vowed to deduct money from his $100,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for each speech exceeding the 45-second limit, he found himself in a difficult situation.
Indeed, award recipients such as Late Show host Stephen Colbert and Adolescence creator Stephen Graham delivered notably lengthy speeches, leading to a donation deficit of -$26,000 at one point.
“This night has been great for me,” Nate joked from the stage towards the end of the event. “Honestly, I think I’ve made money.”
After the total “went way down” and hit an “embarrassing” low, the comedian confirmed that he would honor his commitment to donate to the charity, along with a special announcement.
“CBS is going to add $100,000 [and] I will give $250,000,” Nate stated while concluding the show. “This brings us to $350,000 for the Boys & Girls Club.”
