Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho‘s next directorial venture has shared some first-look images. These come roughly three months after the trailer’s release. The upcoming zombie thriller movie follows the filmmaker’s previous one, The Ugly. It is set to launch theatrically next month. Production reportedly commenced in March 2025 and wrapped up three months later in June.
First Look at Yeon Sang-ho’s Colony Revealed
First-look images from Colony were also shared online. One shows the zombies standing together as the camera captures their aggression and bloodlust. Meanwhile, two posters were also unveiled. One spotlights one of the main characters, while another depicts the zombies running around and causing chaos (via Bloody Disgusting).
EonTalk dropped the first trailer for Yeon Sang-ho‘s film on January 9. Running for one minute and six seconds, it provides a glimpse at the horrors the protagonists will be facing. The footage has garnered 1.7k likes and 124.6k views, as of the time of writing.
The clip, interspersed with various shots from the Train to Busan director’s movie, is accompanied by voice-overs of some of the main characters. One shares her analysis of the zombies’ movements, noting how they first walk on four legs before standing up. She also suggests that they are evolving.
Meanwhile, another asks someone in a fearful tone if the creatures are following them. Finally, one character ominously remarks, “Taking humans to the next level.”

The synopsis reads, “A biotech conference descends into chaos when a rapidly mutating virus transforms the infected, forcing authorities to seal off the facility with survivors trapped inside.”
Colony will premiere at the Midnight Screenings section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in May 2026. Its theatrical release is also planned for that month, with Showbox handling the distribution.
In addition to directing, Yeon Sang-ho co-wrote the screenplay with Choi Gyu-seok. The film’s cast includes Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rok, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Hyung-mook, and Go Soo.
