In a recent exchange of words, President Donald Trump reacted sharply to Bruce Springsteen’s onstage remarks, labeling the iconic musician as a “dried out prune of a rocker.” This response included thinly veiled threats regarding Springsteen’s potential re-entry into the United States. The tension escalated on Wednesday during Springsteen’s tour launch in Manchester, England, when the leader of the E Street Band delivered a powerful critique of the Trump administration.

Opening his performance, Springsteen made an impassioned statement, declaring, “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times.” He articulated his deep concern for the America he cherishes, describing it as a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, now tarnished by what he termed a “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.” Springsteen called upon all individuals who value democracy and the best aspects of the American experience to unite, raise their voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom resonate.

Unsurprisingly, Trump’s reaction to Springsteen’s remarks was anything but gracious.

On Friday morning, the president took to Truth Social to express his discontent with Springsteen, showcasing his characteristic unconventional syntax and overzealous capitalization. In his post, Trump wrote, “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States.” He continued, expressing his disdain for the musician, stating, “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country. If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now! Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)?”

Trump concluded his tirade with a thinly veiled threat directed at Springsteen, stating: “This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

As for Springsteen, his Land of Hope and Dreams European tour is set to wrap up on July 3 in Milan, Italy. If past events are any indication, by the time Springsteen returns to the United States, Trump is likely to have a fresh grievance to air.
