Exciting news emerged earlier this month as Samuel L. Jackson has officially joined the cast of the highly anticipated third season of Tulsa King, a series created by Taylor Sheridan. In a recent post on Instagram, Sylvester Stallone shared a captivating new image from the production of Tulsa King season 3, providing fans with their first glimpse of Jackson’s character and the unfolding narrative.
According to various reports, Jackson is set to portray a character named Russell Lee Washington Jr.. This character is expected to engage in fierce conflicts with Sylvester Stallone’s character, Dwight Manfredi, during the upcoming season. Following the events of season 3, Jackson will transition to his own spinoff series titled NOLA King, which will focus on his character’s journey in New Orleans.
NOLA King is being crafted by Dave Erickson, who has a notable history within the Taylor Sheridan universe. Erickson also serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for Mayor of Kingstown, in addition to his contributions to the third season of Tulsa King. Production for the new series is projected to begin in February, generating excitement among fans. In a conversation with Collider shortly after the announcement, Jackson expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Taylor Sheridan universe, stating, “I’m really happy to be in that universe,” he shared. “I was just talking to Pierce [Brosnan] about that earlier. I watched Tulsa King, and I liked it even before that idea came up. I know very little about what’s going to happen. I don’t know the character’s name. I don’t know what our history is. I don’t know anything about it, but I do know that I’m very anxious to jump into it and find out what it’s going to be.“
In addition to the captivating presence of Jackson, the third season of Tulsa King will introduce several new cast members, including Robert Patrick, Beau Knapp, and Kevin Pollak, each bringing their unique talents to the series and enriching the storyline.
The official synopsis for Tulsa King season 2 reads: “Dwight (Stallone) and his crew continue to build up and defend their growing empire in Tulsa, but just as they get their bearings, they realize that they’re not the only ones who want to stake their claim. With looming threats from the Kansas City mob and a very powerful local businessman, Dwight struggles to keep his family and crew safe while keeping track of all his affairs. Plus, he still has unfinished business back in New York.”
Our own Alex Maidy praised the second season, stating it’s “as good if not better” than the first. “This new season further distinguishes itself from other Taylor Sheridan-created series rather than getting lumped in as another show from the guy who made Yellowstone,” Maidy noted. “Tulsa King is violent, funny, and the best mob series to hit the air since The Sopranos.” Be sure to check out the rest of his review right here.
