U.K. Tour Cancelled for Marilyn Manson Amid Backlash

The highly anticipated opening concert of Marilyn Manson‘s upcoming U.K. tour, originally scheduled for late October in Brighton, England, has been abruptly canceled due to significant protests initiated by the online campaign group No Stage For Abusers and the outspoken MP (Member of Parliament) Siân Berry.

Details on the Cancellation of Manson’s Concert

After completing the U.S. leg of his 2025 tour, which supports the 2024 album titled One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 and kicks off in July, Manson—whose legal name is Brian Hugh Warner—was set to perform at the Brighton Centre on Wednesday, October 29.

However, as reported by The Guardian, the concert has been canceled following demands from the No Stage for Abusers group. This organization, as described on their Facebook page, advocates against providing a platform for abusive individuals. They urged both the Brighton Centre and the Brighton and Hove City Council, which oversees the venue, to cancel the performance to uphold community standards and values.

The article further highlights that last week, Green Party MP Siân Berry publicly expressed her apprehensions regarding Warner’s scheduled performance in her constituency of Brighton. She wrote an open letter to the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Bella Sankey, articulating her concerns.

In this letter—co-signed by numerous organizations and the University of Sussex students’ union—Berry emphasized that allowing this concert would undermine “the city’s well-renowned values” by enabling the Brighton and Hove City Council to profit from such a controversial performance.

Berry further stated:

We also believe there are clear safeguarding risks to attendees and broader community implications by allowing this concert to proceed. We are particularly concerned that this performance permits children as young as 14 to attend.

Warner has been the subject of multiple allegations of sexual assault, grooming, and domestic violence. While prosecutors in the USA have determined that these allegations fall outside of the statute of limitations, this does not negate the serious nature of the risks involved.

We also acknowledge the bravery of the women who have come forward to share their experiences. It is crucial to recognize that, both in the United States and the UK, the majority of perpetrators of sexual violence are unlikely to face prosecution.

Berry’s letter also cites “multiple policies relevant to this issue,” and she concludes by stating:

While freedom of expression is a vital principle that must be upheld, including for artists, there is a significant risk to community cohesion, and the council has distinct obligations to promote good relations among individuals with protected characteristics and those without. The council must take action when there are risks of discrimination, harassment, and victimization.

The scheduled performance at the Brighton Centre has been removed from Manson’s official website and from Ticketmaster. Additionally, No Stage for Abusers has actively posted about the cancellation on their social media platforms, which you can view below.

As The Guardian reports, many of Manson’s supporters have voiced their discontent with this decision, arguing that “Warner has not been found guilty of the allegations against him” and suggesting that the decision impinges on freedom of speech.

“This is cancel culture, plain and simple, and it will backfire when artists choose not to include Brighton and Hove in their tour schedules, opting instead for London, which incidentally hasn’t imposed a ban on Marilyn Manson,” a concerned individual stated to Brighton publication The Argus (as reported by The Guardian).

As of now, neither Manson nor the Brighton Centre has addressed the concert cancellation on their social media platforms. Unsurprisingly, No Stage for Abusers’ social media posts have garnered both supportive and opposing comments.

For instance, one commenter expressed: “Excellent! Thank you to all who made this happen!” while another user on X commented: “He has never been charged with anything; you absolute idiots. Why ruin it for hard-working people who paid money and were looking forward to this? What a bunch of sad losers you are.”

On June 20, Loudwire reported that the U.K. council leader Millie Earl called for the cancellation of Manson’s second U.K. concert at Windsor Hall in Bournemouth to “reinforce the message that violence against women and girls is not acceptable in our community.”

As of this moment, however, the concert that serves as the kickoff for Manson’s U.K. tour remains scheduled for October 31.

Understanding the Allegations Against Marilyn Manson

The significant backlash against Marilyn Manson stems from various abuse allegations made against him over the past few years, with several women, including actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Esmé Bianco, coming forward to share their experiences.

In January 2025, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced that they would not be pursuing charges against Manson, stating: “We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations, and we cannot substantiate charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The public response to these allegations and the subsequent decision not to prosecute remains highly divisive and contentious.
