Ulrich on Sphere and Super Bowl Rumors: ‘F— Yeah’

Metallica's Lars Ulrich expresses his excitement about the potential for the band to perform at the iconic Las Vegas Sphere. However, he emphasizes that it is premature to confirm any plans for a residency at this time. The talented drummer stated during an interview with Howard Stern, “I’m not going to confirm anything, because there’s nothing to confirm. But I’m not going to deny it, because we’re all such fans of this venue.” He elaborated that both the band’s management and production teams have visited the Sphere and are considering it as a viable option for after their 2026 tour concludes.

Reflecting on his personal experience, Ulrich shared, “I was there seeing U2 on their opening night. I wanted to witness the performance firsthand rather than just watching it online. It was a surreal experience that left me completely amazed. It truly felt like the beginning of a new era in live performances.” His enthusiasm for the venue is palpable, and he further stated, “I would absolutely love to do it, let there be no question about it. While nothing is officially in place, I can’t hide my excitement about the possibility.”

During the same interview, Ulrich also announced the upcoming launch of their dedicated SiriusXM channel, titled Maximum Metallica, which is set to debut on Friday, August 29. To promote this new channel, the band is scheduled to hold a special club show in the Hamptons the day prior.
