After wrapping up his role in Nosferatu, Nicholas Hoult received an unusual yet memorable wrap gift: the prosthetic penis of Count Orlok. In an engaging discussion with Empire, Hoult shared the amusing story behind this unique memento, shedding light on why it holds a special place in his collection of film memorabilia.
“I was given the prosthetic because there’s a pivotal scene where the camera shifts to a wide angle, revealing Orlok, played by Bill Skarsgård, on top of me, draining my blood. During the filming of that scene, I could distinctly feel the prosthetic against my leg,” Hoult recounted with a chuckle. “While we rehearsed, I couldn’t contain my laughter, which is why I had… interactions with the prosthetic. This was undoubtedly the funniest wrap gift I’ve ever received.”
Imagine receiving a prosthetic penis as a gift; it’s definitely a conversation starter that would likely remain on display in your home. However, Hoult faced a humorous challenge when the frame for this unconventional gift broke during shipping. “When it arrived at my house, the frame had shattered, necessitating a trip to a framing shop,” he explained. “As I unwrapped it, the shop employee looked at it in disbelief and asked, ‘… What is happening here?’ To his credit, he handled it well, considering I had to explain, ‘Hey, we need to repair the frame for this mounted penis I own.’ When I returned to pick it up, he simply inquired, ‘Is this some sort of… collector’s item?’” It’s a delightful story.
Our own Chris Bumbray praised Nosferatu, declaring it the “scariest vampire movie in ages” in his passionate review. He noted, “This film stands out as one of the most carefully crafted horror movies in recent memory, with Robert Eggers likely aiming to create a definitive interpretation of this classic tale,” Bumbray elaborated. “It’s evident that this is a long-term passion project for him, and the results speak to that dedication. In my opinion, it ranks among the best films of the year and is possibly the only horror film I’ve witnessed recently that truly sent chills down my spine. Out of all the films I’ve experienced this year – and there have been many – this one stands the highest chance of becoming a timeless classic.” For the full insight, check out his detailed review right here.
Looking ahead, Hoult is set to portray Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman film, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11.
