This musical film was designed as a captivating coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the summer of 1977 in Virginia Beach, drawing inspiration from the Atlantis Apartments, the very neighborhood where Pharrell grew up.

In a joint statement shared with Variety, Pharrell and Michel expressed, ?Upon gathering in the editing room, we collectively recognized that there wasn?t a viable path forward to convey the version of this story we initially envisioned.? They further praised the hard work of the talented cast and crew, expressing their disappointment in not being able to deliver the film. They reassured fans about their ongoing collaboration with Universal, hinting at future projects.

Following the completion of filming, Halle Bailey took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude toward Pharrell and Michel for giving her the opportunity to be part of this remarkable project, which marked her return to acting after the birth of her son, Halo.

On Instagram, she joyfully announced, ?That?s a wrap! Thank you to Michel Gondry, @universalpictures & @pharrell for including me in such a magical project. I?m also incredibly grateful to my amazing castmates and the wonderful people of Virginia for their kindness and support during my first movie back, just three months after welcoming my baby. I feel so strong and grateful, and I can’t wait for you all to see this one!?
