The much-anticipated reissue of Foreigner’s iconic 1981 album 4 is set to include an exciting new track featuring the original vocalist, Lou Gramm, delivering his signature sound. This addition is sure to thrill both long-time fans and new listeners alike.
During a recent interview on Chile’s Radio Futuro, Foreigner’s talented bassist Jeff Pilson shared some insights about this upcoming release, as highlighted by Blabbermouth. He described 4 as a pivotal album for the band, noting, “To Foreigner fans, they kind of consider it the pinnacle. It was just an incredible masterpiece of a record.” According to Pilson, every song on this album resonates with fans, making it a vital part of Foreigner’s legacy.

“We uncovered an unfinished track among the archives,” Pilson revealed. “It contained one verse recorded by Lou, along with the chorus. The initial recording was fantastic, but it lacked a second verse, which Lou was only mumbling. We reached out to him with the idea of finishing and recording the song, and he enthusiastically agreed. Lou crafted and recorded two additional verses, even adding a cowbell to enhance the sound. Now, we have a brand-new, yet classic, Foreigner song titled ‘Fool If You Love Him’, which will be featured on the reissue of 4 scheduled for September.”
Lou Gramm’s Remarkable Reunion with Foreigner
Until recently, the notion of Lou Gramm collaborating with his former bandmates seemed almost impossible. For nearly 40 years, Gramm had been estranged from Foreigner, making sporadic guest appearances while frequently expressing his frustrations about his strained relationship with guitarist Mick Jones during interviews. However, everything changed when Foreigner was announced as a member of the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class. During this time, Gramm contributed to the long-dormant track “Turning Back the Time,” and at the induction ceremony, he performed alongside current members of Foreigner, signaling a newfound harmony.

“Something transformative occurred at the Rock Hall event, leading to a sense of unity among us,” Pilson reflected. “It felt like a collective realization that Foreigner transcends individual egos. The music is a force greater than any one of us, and while we are all individual contributors, we are also part of a larger, cohesive entity.”
Since the induction, Gramm has joined Foreigner on stage multiple times and will officially reunite for an exciting tour in Latin America.
“We’re incredibly thrilled to have Lou back with us,” Pilson expressed. “His decision to perform as a special guest is truly remarkable, and his support has been unwavering throughout this process.”
