Taylor Swift is candidly discussing the health challenges faced by her parents.
Recently, it was disclosed that Scott Swift, the father of the 35-year-old pop sensation known for hits like “Blank Space,” underwent a significant heart surgery.
During her guest appearance on the New Heights podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on Wednesday, August 13, Taylor provided an update on her father’s recovery while also mentioning her mother Andrea Swift, who is recuperating after her own medical procedure.
Continue reading for more insightful details…“My dad had an interesting summer. He actually had a quintuple bypass surgery and that’s a really intense surgery,” Taylor revealed.
She explained that the situation escalated “really fast” for her father, who had previously maintained a “perfect EKG” during his annual physicals. However, following a resting stress test, doctors identified five significant blockages and insisted that he undergo the surgery immediately.
“[Doctors we’re like], ‘We gotta do this tomorrow. We don’t know how you walked in here,” Taylor recounted the urgent advice from the medical staff.
The Grammy-winning artist shared that she, along with Travis, her mother, and her brother Austin Swift, all rallied around Scott to assist him in his recovery post-surgery.
“We moved in with him for the whole summer pretty much. [He couldn’t] really walk on [his] own. We had a harness for my dad just walking dad on his harness,” Taylor reminisced. “He was like the loveliest patient ever. He kept saying thank you over and over again.”
After sharing that Scott is doing “incredible” now, she added that her mom is also doing “great” following her knee surgery.
“This was the summer of my parental upgrades,” Taylor joked. “We’re just upgrading the parents, making sure they live to be at least 186 years old because they are two of my best friends.”
