The highly anticipated first album from Young Thug since his release from prison in October is on the verge of launching. On April 16, Thugger officially unveiled the dedicated shop for his upcoming project, UY SCUTI, and showcased some captivating alternate cover art that is sure to attract attention from fans and collectors alike.
“It’s Time. Red Planet,” Thug announced on X, sharing a link to the UY SCUTI store, indicating that the much-awaited Thugger season is nearly upon us. According to Nine Planets, Uy Scuti is classified as a red supergiant star situated in the constellation of Scutum, drawing an exciting parallel to the stellar ambitions of the artist.
The newly launched online shop features an array of exclusive items, including vinyl and CD covers, along with a selection of merchandise bundles that celebrate the new album. Among these offerings is a unique “What Would Brian Do” T-shirt, which pays tribute to Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, who played a crucial role in defending the rapper during the YSL RICO case, demonstrating the personal connection Thug maintains with his legal team.
Interestingly, Steel has recently joined Diddy’s defense team for an upcoming trial concerning sex trafficking and racketeering, scheduled for next month. The esteemed attorney accompanies a legal group that boasts Marc Agnifilo, a former federal prosecutor known for representing Martin Shkreli, alongside his law partner Teny Geragos, showcasing Steel’s commitment to high-profile cases.
In relation to Thug, a striking billboard was noticed at Coachella, teasing the imminent release of his new album with an anticipated launch in May. The billboard boldly proclaimed, “Universe has been too quiet. Until now. UY SCUTI,” although the precise release date in May remains obscured, adding to the excitement and speculation among fans.
Speculations are rife regarding a potential release date of May 9, which falls on a Friday and coincidentally marks three years since Thug, along with 27 others, was apprehended on RICO charges. This timing has led many to believe it could be a significant date for the artist’s comeback.
Although Young Thug has not released a single in 2025 yet, he recently made an appearance on Lil Baby’s album for the track “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber,” collaborating with Future. This collaboration highlights Thug’s continued presence in the music scene despite his personal challenges.
After enduring over two years of incarceration as part of the longest-running trial in Georgia’s history, Thug managed to secure his release by reaching a plea deal on Halloween, which resulted in a sentence of 15 years of probation. This significant turn of events has allowed him to refocus on his music career and reconnect with his fans.
