Vie, the new album from Doja Cat, tops this week’s fan-voted music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Sept. 26) on Billboard, choosing Doja’s latest LP as their favorite new release.
Vie made its grand entrance during a week that also saw new entries by the likes of Mariah Carey, Tate McRae and more — with Doja’s new collection living large, boasting just about half of the vote (coming in at 49.91%).
A return to Doja’s pop roots, Vie was led by the single “Jealous Type.” The set marks her first time working with producer Jack Antonoff, and features a collab with SZA among its 15 tracks.
Upon revealing new album art just days before the release — a cover that shows the artist suspended in the air by a yellow parachute caught in a tree — she wrote, “Falling in love is putting trust in the hands of yourself and others. The yellow parachute represents curiosity, happiness, and adventure. Flying you towards new experiences and scenes, taking a leap of faith, and holding no bounds. The tree represents life and wisdom. Giving you a sense of safety within its branches, but the pain from the fall teaches you that those scratches can be healed. You don’t have to hit the ground. Love grows upward but more importantly down. It’s the roots that keep you steady.”
Doja is set to perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4 before heading out on tour in November — with dates currently scheduled in New Zealand and Australia, and across Asia.
Among the new releases trailing behind Vie on this week’s poll are Mariah Carey’s Here for It All, with 45% of the vote, followed by Tate McRae’s “Tit for Tat,” Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving, 5 Seconds of Summer’s “NOT OK,” Young Thug’s UY SCUTI, and Rauw Alejandro’s Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0.
